Great company
Ive had some bad experiences with contractors in the past, but the workers and staff of First general are all top notch! These guys are true professionals from cleanup to finish. I had a water line break in my upstairs bath, the very next day I had a crew here drying and tearing the place apart. The guys did an outstanding job putting my house back together. I truly couldn't be any happier. Thank you all so much for all of your hard work!
We used this company based on the recommendation of our insurance company. Learned our lesson the hard way. We had a house fire where total inside reconstruction was needed. Quoted 4-6 months we are now a year and 3 months later had to get insurance company to bring in a different company to finish what they neglected to do, did wrong etc. It was one miscue after another, from trying to make us pick replacement items without telling us what our spending limits were from insurance company to 4 different times told we could move in that morning and when we would bring stuff would find house not finished for various reasons. Also hearing from people and companies around the county our story is becoming more common with this company.
We had a fire last October (2013) and First General has made so many mistakes and overcharged the insurance company ridiculously. There paint job looked like a 3 yr did it. My upstairs windows do not meet safety specs (not even close). The company cannot even install fans adequately and do not fit the rooms. No painting contractors will even touch there work and I have had 5! The ceilings are not level, they cannot tell good rafters from one that need fix. How can a company continue to this practice and make money--BECAUSE no one looks into their work! They were recommended by my insurance company so we thought this was a legit contractor. If you are reading this, PLEASE PLEASE reconsider using this company to fix even your dog house! Every and I mean every room they touched, even the electricity, needs re-done! This so-called contractor is how contractors get a bad name and if it was permissible I would give you the bad name. Now my house needs practically all redone! (My insurance had to bring in another real electrician to adequately rewire this house) My insurance company is now working to bring in another contractor--but the time and suffering is not worth.... IF you made a MAJOR mistake in letting this people begin their work, email me and I will gladly show you my house and maybe you will think about that choice again. If there was a negative rating scale I would use it--this company stinks and I want this not to happen to any other person ever. Last example, their electrical guy could not find how to fix my porch light--really!
Excellent Service.....Twice! I used First General two times within 3 years, once for a severe freeze back from a very harsh winter and the second from a leaking pipe from the upstairs bathroom leaking onto the kitchen ceiling cabinets and walls below. The dryers arrived immediately and were running 24/7. The part I appreciated the most was when the workers arrived they took great care in covering the flooring and the area around them while working, true professionals. I hope I don't need emergency services a 3rd time but if I do I will call them!
